Just want to let anyone who wants to know what a pleasure it was to purchase my 1976 Telecaster from Route66. This whole experience was exceptional. Dealing with Jim and Janine was easy and fun, and you really get the feeling that they truly are trying to find a "good home" for the vintage instruments with someone who will appreciate and care for them, and preserve a part of America's past. Price was very fair, and the quality of the instrument - the best. They know these instrument very well, and all was exactly as advertised. The guitar arrived quickly and was expertly packed for shipping. I would highly recommend Route66 to anyone looking to buy a quality vintage instrument. Terry

My experience with Route66 Classic Guitars was the best guitar buying experience I have ever had. I have several (15+) Les Paul's, vintage Fenders, PRS, etc.. etc.... and have many purchasing experiences. If I could save anyone the disappointments and high costs I have learned from buying, - I recommend anyone - anywhere - "BUY your quality instruments from Route66".
Route66 will provide you a QUALITY instrument, at a great price, and will follow up with prompt knowledgeable helpful service AFTER the sale. You will not find a better grade dealer than Route66.

Dear Jim and Janine, My new Gibson arrived today at my home in the U/K, and true to your word Jim it's awesome. Gibson is turning out some lovely guitars now and this one is no exception. The all round finish is so nice and the lemon flame top certainly strikes you when the case lid is opened. This is the third guitar I've purchased from you and all three have been a testimony to the care and consideration you take when supplying people like myself with a fine musical instrument. I just want to say thank you both and wish you all the best for the future and please Both keep Rockin! Ron Didcot United Kingdom.

Hi Jim and Janine, the Gibson ES335 arrived today, only five days from its departure and what a beautiful guitar it is. When I opened the case its beauty just struck me in the face,no different I suspect if it had been 1963.I remember that year well as I was getting near to leaving school. Of course in those days my parents could never have afforded such a fine instrument. I'm going to call her JJ after both of you. This is now my second guitar from Route 66 and I want to thank Yourself and Janine for all the care and attention you have afforded me on both occasions. The guitar was so well packed for her journey to the U/K. You are two very honest people with guitars very much in your hearts. In this day and age that is so nice and I want others to know that also. Take care for now,Godless, Ron.

I just happened across Jim and Janine's ROUTE 66 CLASSIC GUITARS, while looking for a nice Jazz box for my grandson. I found a Special Edition Dean Palomino that was perfect for him. I emailed Jim and he worked with me for about 2 weeks so we could get this guitar. He didn't even know me?? He just took the time to help me and got the job done as if we had been friends for 20 years. There is NO ONE, these days, who would take the time and energy, not to mention the kindness, that these folks took, in order for me to get this BEAUTIFUL es175 Palomino Guitar. Its' too bad that there aren't more Jims and Janines around !!!! The world would be a better place !!! There is no other place to do business with now. Not as long as Jim and Janines' ROUTE 66 CLASSIC GUITARS is around !!! Which, with how I've been treated as a customer, I'll put my money on....FOREVER. ROCK ON ROUTE 66 CLASSIC GUITARS.
Thank you very much, Wally Norcross Sr. South Dartmouth, Mass.

You've tried the rest - now try the best - contact Janine and Jim at Route 66 Classic Guitars!!!
You will find the best guitar website on the planet. The website is designed for real enthusiasts with all the technical detail clearly set out and plenty of sharp photos.
Janine and Jim are clearly guitar experts and enthusiasts - just take a look at the stock list - if you like guitars you'll be like a kid in a toy store.
You will never find swifter e-mail responses from any business - I'm sure these folks don't sleep!!
My guitar was posted on Monday (UPS trackable) and was delivered to me in UK on Friday, just as predicted. I can't believe that the entire transaction was completed in a week.
I can also say that I have never seen anything like the 'Route 66' parcel - the guitar was packed like a Russian doll and arrived in perfect condition.
Nothing prepared me for the sight of this guitar when I opened the case. The matched maple top is stunningly beautiful - we never see tops like this on Gibsons in Britain.
I could not be more pleased with the transaction from start to finish.
After making initial contact the friendly and helpful communications made the transaction go like clockwork.
The speed of delivery and quality of packaging resulted in a transaction that cannot be bettered.
I strongly recommend 'Route 66' to anyone looking for a quality guitar.
There is certainly only one place to look for my next guitar!
Best wishes and thank you Janine and Jim for delivering the guitar I have dreampt of ever since I heard the early Eric Clapton of the 1960s.

I have owned more than 20 Les Pauls since I bought my first in 1974, a 20th anniversary custom. I have been searching for this tone that has been in my head for many years. Thank you Jim and Janine for helping me find my dream guitar, an R9. I had narrowed my choice to three of your Les Pauls, but when I saw and heard 1821, I fell in love.
Thank you both so very much and continued success.
I am sure we will meet again.

Thank you to Janine and Jim. I just received my Gibson ES 335 1960 50th Anniversary Sunburst and it is more than expected. Top quality from Gibson, I must say. This is how it should be and a great price from Jim. As I read that Janine is the master packer of guitars, I would like to add that this is true. I have never seen any packaging quite like the way this came! There was time and care taken to achieve this process . Thanks Janine! As far as communication, they were always quick to respond by email, easy to work with and the"mom and pop" business is key in who you are dealing with. Again, obvious care and service orientation are seemingly very important to them. I look forward to future communication as I already feel like family. Thanks again!.

Hi Janine and Jim,
I purchased an insane '59 reissue from Route66 Classic Guitars and my experience was phenomenal. Janine took good care of me answering my questions and concerns. They really know their guitars. The packaging, as others have mentioned, is impeccable. It's a true work of art. My "monster" is unique (aren't all Gibsons?) and it doesn't growl. It roars!! I'm serious, the neck is flipping fat and thick, just like a '59 should be!! Unlike the chain stores, it is obvious that these folks offer the very best in tops and quality. I live near a "chain" store, and I wouldn't spend my money on the '59s they have. I mean, some folks like all kinds of wood types, but if you're looking for top notch (no pun intended) and playability, look no further. I am so grateful to have found out about this dealer and they made A DREAM COME TRUE for me. I am not a materialistic person, but I feel I have been blessed. My guitars are about the only things I can call my own (my wife owns me, but that's a different issue...) Seriously, if you can afford to get your hands on what you like here, do what you can and take care of business. I just love coming to this site and looking at the goodies. It's my "fix" when I want to stare at beautiful guitars. Now I have another I can do that with at home! God bless you all, and keep being honest and caring. That's what I believe brings you guys the business. Sincerely, Joaquin Figueroa.

Just want to take the time to thank Jim & Janine for there outstanding one on one service. We did a trade deal for a 59 VOS Les Paul and I must have spent two hrs watching the same three videos before I knew that the one guitar we did our deal on was "THE ONE"!!!
Jim was very helpful and we worked out our trade deal in just a few minuets... Jim was very fair on my trade as he had the perfect guitar for me! Furthermore Janine took some extra photo's for me and that sealed the deal.. I also wanted to add that Jim is a "Master" @ packing !!! Amazing pack job... >>> : ^ ) It took me over a half hr. to unpack the guitar. Then it took 10 more minuets to get the guitar out of the case.. "Master" of raping as-well!! So with all that said Jim & Janine were there for every phone call and every Email like no other dealer i've ever dealt with and I've been buying and selling guitars for over 40 years!!! I highly recommend "Route 66 Guitars" to anyone one that wants only the best in guitars and service! Never in my 40 years of guitar playing have I been so pleased with a Dealer... Thanks again you guys!!!! Rockin Robby from Santa Barbara California .

Unlike the big box music store, you get great service and a selection of only the finest guitars handpicked for their beauty and collectability. Janine and Jim are very knowledgeable and answered all my questions before I made my final purchase. The guitar arrived in perfect condition. They took time to properly wrap the guitar and box it up with ample protection. This is a top notch professional guitar shop. Hello ! This is the second guitar I bought from Jim & Janine. As before, Jim provides fast, accurate answers. It is a pleasure to talk with someone as professional. The guitar (a great Gibson LP 1959 Reissue Tom Murphy Aged) was shipped the same day I bought it. Perfect. The guitar was well packed and protected. A real professional job! I am very pleased with my purchase. Excuse me for my English approximation, I'm French. Happy holidays to all. Arnaud.

After weeks of searching for the CC#2 Les Paul I came across Jim and Janine's Route66 website. I'm usually very cautious when it comes to ordering online but Jim and Janine's helpfulness and very prompt replies kept me going. During the purchasing process they really exceeded my expectations. The patience and taking the time to answer any questions had put me at ease. Believe me I asked A LOT of questions. It took some time for processing but they held onto the guitar for me until it was time. Shipping was also a very big concern, especially with an instrument like this, but again they exceeded my expectations. The packaging was superb. Unpacking it was the hardest part, and I could tell there was no way it could be damaged. As for the guitar, there were no negative surprises. The only surprise for me was it looked even more amazing in person. The action was perfect (no setup issues to worry about). Now that they've gained my trust, I would definitely buy from them again no questions asked.
Thanks again.

I can't describe the anticipation, watching the tracking record of the package as it moved closer to the UK...In less than a week it was on my doorstep. The best packing job I have ever seen, in fact so good it took me about 5 minutes to get close to the contents! There it was, the black shiny "Gibson Custom Shop" emblazoned case...the moment of truth...I clicked each latch open and slowly raised the lid. Wow...more packing ;) After removing the tissue around the stings, and extra head and neck packing support, there she was. The most Amazing Tom Murphy aged 1960 reissue, light and resonant in a beautiful vintage iced tea. A friend of mine who deals in guitars came round, I told him I had something interesting to look at. He asked me "what year is it"...I smiled ...He cottoned on "It's a Tom Murphy...wow" ...it's that good ! "It's so light...It's lighter than my Jimmy Page Les Paul...where did you get it ?" ...and you all know the answer to that. Anyone in the UK thinking of buying from The States, this is the place to do it.
Thanks Jim and Janine ...you told me she was the one for me !....she's just as you described. Many thanks Duncan Sykora, Lancashire, UK

Thank you for the sweet Les Paul!
Jim and Janine are a real asset to all lovers of high quality classic guitars. Anyways, I had my eye on a couple of very nice new and unplayed Gibson Les Paul Traditional Plus guitars on their fine website. Janine was lightning fast and enthusiastic in responding to my emails, while Jim gave thorough and detailed descriptions of each guitar by phone, while also being very patient and generous with his time. The love, knowledge and passion that they both have for quality guitars is rather evident in both the email and phone responses.
Well, I ended up with a gorgeous 9.4 lbs 2010 Les Paul Traditional Plus in desert burst and I could not be any more satisfied. The packing job was top notch and the special added attention to the headstock area was most appreciated. Not only was the price very good [free shipping], but knowing that Jim and Janine hand pick each guitar gave me added peace of mind. I highly recommend buying through Route 66 Classic Guitars, and I myself will be doing business with Jim and Janine again sometime down the road. Jim and Janine, thanks again for the beautiful Les Paul and a most positive and stress free guitar buying experience.
Sincerely, Edward Sousa of La Mesa, CA.

Jim and Janine are an absolute delight to deal with. They offered by far the best deal on my dream guitar, answered all my questions promptly and courteously and made the whole experience a pleasure. Even when my credit card company zealously blocked the transaction initially, Jim was never less than a gentlemen throughout the entire process. UPS kept me informed throughout, albeit with a few confusing tracking messages, and delivered the guitar on the appointed date. One note of caution for UK buyers - UPS required cash or cheque at the door before they'd hand over the package, but that's out of Jim and Janine's control. The packaging was superbly cushioned with foam and Expanded polystyrene, proof against all but determined mishandling.
The guitar, a 2010 Les Paul '58 Historic Reissue (Gloss), is the one in their excellent photographs and will be a joy and inspiration for ever. If you've ever considered buying a guitar from an overseas dealer but were afraid it would prove too problematic, think again. Jim and Janine do all the work and will quote you the best deal, including shipping via a renowned carrier. They have an ethic for service, customer care and honest good value which puts traders here to shame. If ever I have sufficient funds available again, I'll be back. I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone, you won't regret it. They put you in touch with your dreams.
Wishing you every success for the future.

He gave a perfect, problem free service, as one usually prays for when dealing on line. Jim was a gentleman, and kept me informed when payment was received, and had it shipped out the same day. The guitar was perfectly packed with no chance of damage, unless the plane crashed.
So Jim, cheers to you mate.

My experience with Jim and Route 66 Classic Guitars was nothing short of amazing. I had my eye on a few different guitars when I started looking. Jim was very quick to get back to me with answers to any questions I had. He also had some very helpful suggestions once he knew what I was looking for, and I ended up buying one of his recommendations that I hadn't found myself. Although I thought I knew a thing or two about Gibson Les Paul 1959 reissues, Jim taught me so much more that I immediately had total confidence and that I was dealing with someone who knew his stuff. When I finally got to the point where I was ready to buy, I made my purchase online on a Monday night. Even though I'm in Canada, the guitar was in my hands three days later! Jim was super helpful in dealing with customs and getting everything ready so the whole transaction couldn't have been smoother. It has been an awesome addition to my collection, and my friends can't believe I got such a gorgeous instrument. I can't give higher praise to these guys, and I'm seriously tempted to add a few more guitars to the collection now that I have a place where I know I'll get amazing service. Great job guys!

Hi Jim and Janine,
Sorry about the delay in sending this note of appreciation but I wanted to say thank you for making my buying experience such a pleasure. I first saw my guitar during an ebay search and mulled over the purchase for too long, the auction ended and the guitar of my dreams wasn't posted again. Luckily I searched Route 66 Classic Guitars and there it was still for sale. To make a long story short, my whole purchasing experience was amazing, I have purchased a lot of guitars on the internet over the last couple of years but have never felt so confident dealing with a seller. We are not lucky enough here in Ireland to have the selection of guitars available to you guys in the U.S. so to find high quality guitars as reasonable prices with excellent customer service is Nirvana.
The communication, advice, packaging of the guitar and pleasure at knowing what was described was what I received has convinced me that any further purchases will be made through Route 66. I bought my Strat in September 09 and from the day it arrived it's been my Nr 1.
Thanks for the experience, you'll be hearing from me again soon !
All the very best from Ireland
Joe

I purchased a (Yamano) Gibson Les Paul R-0 from Route 66 Classic Guitars and I must say I was a little nervous about spending so much money on a guitar I'd only seen in photographs from a web site I'd never used before, representing a company over 4,000 miles away. But the guitar just looked so gorgeous...
I am pleased to say that my nervousness was completely unfounded. Once the e-cheque process had gone through and the money was in Route 66 Classic Guitars' bank account, the instrument was here, in England, in just 4 days. The service from UPS was perfect and the customs clearance was all sorted before it left the US. I enjoyed tracking the progress on the UPS web site.
The guitar was packed by Jim personally and it was absolutely first class! I recall someone in one of the feedback letters saying that his guitar was probably packed better than it ever had been by Gibson and, believe me, he's absolutely right.
I think I shall be living with this guitar for many years. It really is beautiful.
I thank Jim very much for making it possible and for his excellent service. I recommend Route 66 Classic Guitars most highly to anyone looking for a serious classic guitar.
Best Regards,
Clive Blackman

As a recent international buyer from Scotland, I took a big risk purchasing a high value Gibson R9 on the internet. You simply can't find a guitar in the UK with this quality of tiger stripe without searching for years or by having extraordinary luck. I had never heard of Route 66 Classic Guitars before I initially saw the guitar on Ebay and immediately fell in love with it. As soon as I started my correspondence with Jim at Route 66, I quickly sensed that I was dealing with a man of honesty and integrity, and who obviously had a love for guitars. We enjoyed good humored and factual correspondence, where all my questions and requests for information were addressed immediately. The UPS expedited courier service was excellent with the guitar arriving safely within a week. The guitar arrived beautifully packed with the headstock skilfully protected and supported with foam rubber. The guitar itself was in perfect condition and was exactly as described and shown in the photographs, with no undisclosed dings or non-conformance. In conclusion, if you see the guitar of your dreams on the Route 66 Classic Guitars website - purchase it with complete confidence. Go for it !! You won't regret it. I hope potential buyers find this information helpful. My experience has proved that you can trust Route 66 Classic Guitars to deliver both honesty and unrivaled customer service. Jim, it was an honour and pleasure to do business with you. Kind regards, Roger

I would like to express my great appreciation to Jim and Janine for helping me to select and buy 2 fantastic guitars over the last 12 months. -It was a pleasure to purchase my latest Gibson through Route 66 Classic Guitars. I dealt with Jim and he was incredibly helpful with my list of questions, honest about the inventory and what I was getting into and reliable in terms of getting the guitar to me in an extremely timely manner - regardless of me being across the country. I made an impulse buy of my dream Gibson and Route66 helped it become a reality. I would absolutely deal with them in the future.-
Best, Eric

Dear Jim and Janine!
After spending hours on the route 66 homepage checking out all these beautiful guitars i deceided to write an email asking for a guitar and thats how the story began. the story of me searching the holy grail and the guitar store you are know looking at when you watch this homepage. and i regret nothing after purchasing a GIBSON LES PAUL 1959 V.O.S form these nice folks at route 66. Everything from the progress of writing many many emails asking Jim about the guitar i wanted to buy to the exellent shipping and packing job until to the first time i played my instrument was absolutly amazing. i am quite picky regarding guitars, especially Les Pauls and i was afraid of buying such a expensive guitar in the net without playing the guitar first and make my own impression and opinion but after my first email with route 66 i thought "lets try it and give them a chance". i am so happy that i made this decision. FOLKS AND PEOPLE OUT THERE LISTEN: when you are searching for a guitar which can satisfy you in any ways and when you are on the search for the very very special guitar than belive me ROUTE 66 CLASSIC GUITARS is the right place to find it, i did it and others before me. forget the big super guitar stores the independent dealers are the right place to search.
I will never forget the experience i made with you ROUTE 66 and so: GIVE ME THE KICKS ROUTE 66 GUITARS

I'll see you on route66 again soon - Michael, Denmark

Dear Jim and Janine,
I can' tell you how much I truly Love this guitar in a million ways. First let me say how appreciative I am of the First Class packing job of the guitar. So much attention to detail to make sure that this fine instrument would arrive in the most deserving condition. When I finally waited some hours to actually unpack the Guitar, which were instructions from Jim to avoid any checking and so forth.. I just could not believe the "Beauty" of my new Gibson 1959 VOS Les Paul. The Flame top of this instrument is one created by the Gods. Unbelievable out of this world 3-dimensional heavy tiger flame and the right amount of flecking going on. I was floored beyond words. The warm rich burst finish is to die for as the feel of the neck, gorgeous fretboard and weight of this Les Paul fits my personality perfectly. Well then, what else could be better to add to this instrument. TONE, TONE AND EVEN MORE TONE. This is by far the best 59 reissue of I have ever played. I have tried many many reissues and I am indeed very picky of choosing one. This 59' Reissue is # 1 for me. I am so happy I pulled the trigger working with you guys. This has been truly emotional, especially about how right my gut feeling was to deal with such fine people as you are. I am grateful eternal.
Thank you so much!
R.T.

Thank you Jim and Janine for a great job on sending my Gibson ES-335 all the way to Australia. A first-rate packaging job ensured the guitar arrived safe and sound after a long journey. You were a pleasure to deal with, approaching the transaction with professionalism and with a real understanding of the concerns and fears that most guitarists have when buying an instrument sight-unseen off the internet. I would recommend you to any other guitarists out there, especially those outside the US who worry that their guitar won't survive the overseas journey. With Route 66, your guitar will make it - they do the best packing job I have ever seen. All the best,::::Ben

Jun 22, 2007 at 13:03:25 bob (rmueller31@wi.rr.com)
my new 335 fat neck just arrived and i couldn't be more surprised and happy with it. its everything jim described and more. the pictures on the web site were quality and accurate. jims "in hand" description to me over the phone was honest and astute. he conveyed the "feel" over the phone to me, which most dealers are incapable of. jim told me he doesn't just sell any guitars and this one proves it...I've owned and played my share of 335's and this one is special. the packing was way better than what the factory would do. the packing INSIDE the case was meticulous and obviously done with thought and care. jim worked with me on price and shipping to my satisfaction...the whole process was "clean" and seamless. I'm glad to have done business with you folks and will recommend you every time. thank you for selling high quality instruments at better than "street" prices.

Now this is going to be a long one because people who do business in the way that Jim and Janine do business need to be publicly thanked.::Sometimes in life really pleasant surprises happen that leave a lasting, and often lifetime impression.::Recently I experienced one of those pleasant surprises. The surprise was Jim and Janine at Route 66 clasic guitars. What courteous, considerate, decent and honest people they are. The real traditional American gentleman and gentlewoman. Genuine people offering a genuine product at a price that is fair and appropriate to both sides of the relationship.::Why am I going on like this? Because that is what I experienced at Route66.::I recently purchased a magnificent and rare Gibson Les Paul Supreme at nearly half the price that I would pay for it in Australia, and for a few hundred dollars less than what I would pay for it in U.S. outlets.::Now anyone would be happy with something as beautiful as a Les Paul at a great price, but that is not the point. Jim and Janine are the point of this comment. It is they who have moved me to write this comment.::I rang them a number of times from Australia and everytime we spoke, whether it was late at night, during the day or early in the morning(the trouble with living on the other side of the planet)they took the time to make time for me, and for me to gain a sense of comfort and confidence in dealing from so far away over the telephone with people I had never met.::CONSIDERATE! Let me tell you. Anyone who knows their product like they do and who willingly and helpfully share that knowledge with you are consummate professionals.::DECENT! If you experience the way they sell their guitars to you, the way they pack and care for them, the way they ensure that they are delivered to you in perfect condition then I think the word is appropriate to describe them. ::HONEST! Well you simply wouldn't behave like they behave with a customer if you weren't honest. Everything they said they would do they did, and the manner and way in which they did it speaks clearly about their integrity.::I think that one of the reasons why they are so good at what they do is because they love what they do. They simply love fine guitars and love helping others to own and enjoy these magnificent instruments, and above all (I'm being a bit forward here) they appear to love each other. Now you can't get better than that. ::I wish them well and every success. They provided me with a magnificent musical instrument and they did it in such a lovely and professional manner. I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone. Jim and Janine thank you for your graciousness and service.

Hi Jim. Well, I've gotta say, this guitar was everything you said and more! Physically beautiful, but the tone and vibe is off the charts. As you said...really well balanced with lots of soul, with just the right levels of highs and lows. Great neck, build quality, etc. I'm very pleased. Better than my old '01 that I was trying to replace. So thanks again, and I'll be sure to keep watching your site for other goodies.
