Fender contributed many ground breaking instruments to the world of music, but Leo's passion was amplifiers and of all his accomplishments, none exceed those he made to the electric tube amplifier. It's the sound that defined the tones of rock and roll!

The original Fender Bassman was introduced in 1952. Over time, there were some changes and upgrades made to the original design of the Fender Bassman. Originally, the Fender Bassman came with one 15 inch speaker. In 1954, the 15 inch speaker was replaced with four 10 inch speakers. The Fender Bassman also underwent some changes in circuitry in 1954, and again in 1955, 1956, and in 1958. The original 1958 model 5F6-A Fender Bassman is considered to be one of the greatest guitar amplifiers of all time. The circuit introduced in 1958, and designated as F6-A is considered to be the best of all Fender tube amp circuit designs, and it served as the model for the early Marshall Amps. This circuit design was so great that it has been copied and emulated by numerous other rival amplifier manufacturers. The Fender Bassman Amps made in 1958, 1959 and 1960 are considered by collectors and musicians alike to be the best sounding, and therefore most desirable of the originals. Because the circuitry and sound characteristics of the Fender Bassman have been copied over and over by so many different manufacturers, and because the design of the Fender Bassman inspired so many clones, it is affectionately referred to as "the mother of all amps."

This 1958 Fender Bassman model 5F6A is in EXCELLENT CONDITION, NO ISSUES. It has the original Amplifier Chassis, Grill Cloth, Control Panel, Point to Point Wiring, Amplifier Cabinet, 5F6A Circuitry, Internal Production Label, Fender Nameplate and Transformers. The tubes, some caps and some pots have been replaced as well as the speakers. The leather handle was also replaced with one this is period correct. The tweed cover was restored many years ago using "new old stock" Fender Tweed. This amp also has a grounded power cord. The serial number is BM 1019.

This amp has an added midrange control and four inputs (high gain/low gain "normal" and high gain/low gain "bright"). It has 4 Jensen P10R speakers and it sounds AWESOME! Four speakers move a lot of air! Tom Wheeler put it best in his book "The Soul of Tone: Celebrating 60 Years of Fender Amps" when he noted that the '58 Bassman "seems to combine the perfect array of preamp components, output tubes, power, negative feedback loop, passive tone controls, cab, baffle, and speakers." IT JUST DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER!
