2010 Gibson Custom Historic 1960 ES-335 Dot Reissue
50th Anniversary Limited Edition

It's been 50 years since the birth of one of the most celebrated guitars in history, the 1960 ES-335 Dot. In recognition of it's 50th Anniversary, Gibson Custom has just released this Historic 1960 ES-335 50th Anniversary Limited Edition.

Perfect to the last detail, this limited production model from Gibson Custom is indistinguishable in every way from the 335s that rolled off the line in 1960. With its arched top, f-holes and solid maple center block, the semi-hollow 335 has all the raw power of a solid body, but with the refined elegance of a traditional Gibson archtop. The combination of a fast-playing, "slim profile" mahogany neck and the warmth of a rosewood fingerboard is what the ES-335 is all about. The ES-335 is the perfect guitar for practically any musical setting. It's as perfect a fit for jazz and fusion as it is for blues, hard rock and beyond. This guitar has that buttery playing feel and, most of all, superlative sound that ranges from fat, warm, and vocal on the neck pickup to stinging and cutting on the bridge pickup, with a broad range of brews in between.

This 2010 Gibson Custom 1960 ES-335 50th Anniversary Limited Edition is one of the first built in celebration of it's 50th Anniversary. Highly collectible - Limited to 100 Guitars - This guitar is beautifully finished in Antique Red and polished to perfection, just like back in the day! This guitar features a thin nitrocellulose finish, just like the original model. A thin nitro finish creates less interference with the natural vibration of the instrument, allowing for a purer tone. It is porous in nature, and actually gets thinner over time. It does not "seal" wood but rather allows the wood to breathe and age properly. Its one-piece, 24" inch scale length mahogany neck features a long tenon, long Pickguard and a 22-fret Madagascar rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays. In addition to its period-correct look, this guitar recreates the legendary tone of the original 1960 ES-335 by utilizing a pair of Gibson's renowned '57 Classic humbucking pickups, which is the closest thing to original "PAF" pickups on the market today. High-quality CTS volume and tone potentiometers with "bumble bee" capacitors offer a fundamental electronics package, thus insuring this guitar's unique tone is captured and delivered with the utmost accuracy and originality. Other traditional appointments include vintage tulip tuners, a holly headstock veneer and all nickel hardware, including an ABR-1 bridge and lightweight aluminum stopbar tailpiece.

This guitar weighs 7 lbs. 10.5 oz. The thickness of the neck measures .842 at the first fret and .897 at the 12th. This guitar is 100% MINT UNOWNED UNPLAYED AWESOME - complete with the Custom Shop Reissue Case, Certificate of Authenticity and all the magic and vibe of the '60s!
