1974 Martin D-18 Dreadnought
The D-18 is the "creme de la creme." It has the looks and the classic tone that has elevated the CF Martin name over the decades. It's the sweet warm full bodied tone of Elvis in the early years. The D-18 is a classic... from Johnny Cash to Kurt Cobain, this is the guitar. And, speaking of the classic's who can forget Andy Griffith? You can't talk about the D-18 without mentioning Andy Griffith!
The D-18 is just an awesome guitar! The tone is deep, rich and beautifully balanced. If you are a connoisseur of guitars and you demand the very best, you owe it to yourself to play the D-18.
This 1974 D-18 features a spruce top joined with mahogany back and sides. The mahogany neck has a nicely fattened up soft V profile and a beautiful rosewood fretboard with dot inlays. Other features include a black pick guard, Grover tuners and a rosewood bridge. The pickguard appears to have shrunk a tiny bit which is common among vintage guitars. The neck is totally clean and the frets are in excellent condition. This guitar is all original and in excellent condition complete with the original hardshell case.
This is a fine sounding vintage Martin guitar. It has a bright and crisp tone that will fill out a recording very nicely. It plays great! The neck is straight, the action is low and it is intonated very well. This axe tunes up easy, holds tune perfectly and takes a capo like a champ without a fuss. The neck on this dread is fat and full feeling in every position. This '74 offers classic tone, vibe and feel. The sound is unmatched by any new guitar today and produces tone that only a nicely broken in spruce top Martin can deliver. Like fine wine many of the best things in life are better with age. This classic Martin dread is no exception. Don't miss your chance to lay down some of the best songs of your life.
This guitar has got soul and tons of MOJO! Check it out!
